Installation guide
Complete these steps in order. The app admin Setup page also shows embed status and a shortcut to the theme editor.
These instructions guide you to build your own Flow from scratch. To use one of the included Flow templates with a pre-configured, internal email notification, follow this guide.
1. Install the app
Install Blog Comments Notification on your Shopify store and open it from Apps in your admin.
A plan subscription is required to enable the Flow trigger. A 14-day free trial is available to support your setup and testing.
2. Enable the theme app embed
The app uses a theme app embed called Blog comment listener. There is no block to add to your blog template — only the embed needs to be turned on.
- On the app Setup page, click Launch theme editor to enable app embed.
- In the theme editor, open App embeds (puzzle-piece icon in the left sidebar).
- Find Blog comment listener (under Blog Comments Notification) and toggle it ON.
- Click Save before leaving the theme editor.
Manual path
Online Store → Themes → Customize (live theme) → App embeds → Blog comment listener → ON → Save.
3. Install Shopify Flow
If you do not already have it, install Shopify Flow from the Shopify App Store.
4. Create a Custom Flow
- In Shopify admin, open Flow.
- Click Create workFlow.
- Click Select a trigger.
- Search for and select Blog Comments Notification app from the list of installed apps.

5. Configure and activate the workflow
- In the Flow editor, configure the action step according to it's instructions.
- Available fields include comment author, email, body, article title, article URL, moderation URL, and timestamps. See Flow Field Specs for more details.
- Click Add variable to select from available fields.
- After configuring the action step, click Turn on workflow.
6. Test with a real comment
- On your storefront, open a blog article that accepts comments.
- Submit a test comment.
- Confirm the configured action step is triggered in Flow - Recent Runs page.
- Optional: on the app Plan and Usage page, confirm the comment count increased.
Custom Flow workflows
You are not limited to a single Flow. Create and test as many workflows as you need using the Blog Comment Created trigger.
