Trigger overview
Available Fields
The app sends these fields to Shopify Flow. In workflow editors,
Shopify displays them as camelCase liquid variables
in your text entries (for example
"Comment by {{ commentAuthorName }}").

Text | Name entered by the commenter on the blog form. Empty string if not provided. |
commentAuthorEmail |
Text | Email address entered by the commenter. Required for the app to receive the event. |
commentBody |
Text | Comment text. HTML is stripped before storage. Comments longer than 500 characters are truncated with a notice. A warning line is added if HTML was removed from the original submission. |
commentStatus |

App-assigned status at trigger time. Currently always
submitted / pending — not synced from Shopify’s
approval state after submission.
|
commentModerationUrl |

(/admin/content/comments?status=unapproved).
|

Shop variables
In addition to the trigger fields above, Shopify Flow makes the
shop variable available in the
Add a variable picker for any workflow. It contains
your store's configuration and settings — for example
{{ shop.name }}, {{ shop.contactEmail }}, or
{{ shop.primaryDomain.url }} — and is provided by Shopify
itself, not by this app.
Flow's shop fields map directly to the
Shop object in the GraphQL Admin API reference, which lists every available field with its type and description.
For background on how Flow exposes Admin API fields as workflow
variables, see
Shopify Flow and the GraphQL Admin API
in the Shopify Help Center.

Important notes
- The trigger fires only when the theme app embed is active and comments are entered on the theme's storefront blog article page (not from admin-only or API comment events alone).
- The app fires on submission by the commenter, not when a comment is later approved or published in Shopify admin.
- Comment details including Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is removed from the app database after Flow is triggered successfully. Your Flow workflows and actions (such as sent emails) retain the data according to your configuration.
- To use the pre-built workflow including a formatted internal email template, see the installation guide. To build your own, see custom Flow setup.
