Installation guide
Complete these steps in order. The app admin Setup page also shows embed status and a shortcut to the theme editor.
These instructions include the Flow templates with a pre-configured, internal email notification. To build your own Flow from scratch, follow this guide.
1. Install the app
Install Blog Comments Notification app on your Shopify store and open it from Apps in your admin.
2. Enable the theme app embed
The app uses a theme app embed called Blog comment listener. There is no block to add to your blog template — only the embed needs to be turned on.
- On the app Setup page, click Launch theme editor to enable app embed.
- In the theme editor, open App embeds (puzzle-piece icon in the left sidebar).
- Find Blog comment listener (under Blog Comments Notification) and toggle it ON.
- Click Save before leaving the theme editor.
Manual path
Online Store → Themes → Customize (live theme) → App embeds → Blog comment listener → ON → Save.
3. Install Shopify Flow
If you do not already have it, install Shopify Flow from the Shopify App Store.
4. Install the Flow template
- In Shopify admin, open Flow.
- Go to Templates.
-
Search for and install either:
- "Notify staff by email when a new blog comment needs moderation" (for a simple, more easily editable email format), or
- "Send HTML email when a blog comment is submitted" (for a fully stylized, formatted email format) template.
- Both of these templates use the Blog Comment Created trigger provided by this app.
5. Configure and activate the workflow
- Open the workflow created from the template.
- On the Send internal email step, set the recipient email address (e.g. your team inbox).
- Review the email subject and body if desired.
- Turn the workflow On.
6. Test with a real comment
- On your storefront, open a blog article that accepts comments.
- Submit a test comment.
- Confirm the internal email arrives (check spam if needed).
- Optional: on the app Plan and Usage page, confirm the comment count increased.
Custom Flow workflows
You are not limited to the included templates. Create your own Flow workflow using the Blog Comment Created trigger. Available fields include comment author, email, body, article title, article URL, moderation URL, and timestamps. Detailed instructions are in this guide
